General share info:

In order to participate with any CSA site, all members are required to sign up for a vegetable share. Members may also choose one or more optional shares such as fruit or eggs. At many CSA sites, members may choose a FULL share (weekly pick-ups for 22 weeks) or a HALF share (every other week aka. EOW pick-ups for 11 weeks).

THE VEGETABLE SHARE:

14380185_1255091367855994_8992867361356341660_o

22 weeks (full share) or 11 weeks (half share) of organically grown vegetables (Certified Organic by PCO) produced by Ted and Jan Blomgren and their staff at Windflower Farm. They use organic techniques that include composting, cover cropping and crop rotations to produce delicious and healthy vegetables. Your share will vary from week-to-week but is likely to contain six to ten items, including salad greens, herbs, root vegetables like carrots and potatoes, such seasonal favorites as cucumbers, sweet corn and tomatoes, and cooking greens, broccoli or cabbage. The full share is intended to meet the vegetable needs of a family of four. All of the farm’s fertility comes from local sources and all of its electricity comes from the sun.

THE FRUIT SHARE:

20 weeks (full share) or 10 weeks (half share) of fruit, some of which is produced organically by Windflower Farm, and some of which is produced with minimal inputs (but not organically) by local farmers who use IPM techniques to manage their crops. The season begins with strawberries, rhubarb and cherries, continues with blueberries, peaches, plums and melons, and concludes with pears, apples and cider. The fruit share usually starts with the first vegetable delivery.
